Broadwood Retail Park – AI-Driven Wireless Surveillance Upgrade

Broadwood Retail Park in Cumbernauld is a busy retail environment requiring surveillance across public car park and service yard areas. The site needed full coverage to support crime detection, while maintaining normal access for shoppers and vehicles throughout the installation. Existing columns across the retail park already had 240Vac power available, but there were viable data cable routes back to the external data cabinet.

FT Security was engaged to deliver a modern surveillance upgrade capable of overcoming these infrastructure limitations without disruptive civil works. With the car park needing to remain open and accessible during installation, the project required an alternative approach that could provide high-definition monitoring, support out-of-hours detection and minimise disruption in a busy public setting.

FT Security partnered with Dahua Technology to deploy a fully wireless IPCCTV solution across Broadwood Retail Park, using Point-to-Point and Point-to-Multipoint transmission to avoid the need for excavation or new cable routes.

Dahua PFWB5-90ac access points were installed at main columns and cabinet control positions, while PFWB5-10ac stations were deployed across multiple columns throughout the site. This allowed the system to make use of the existing 240Vac supply already available at each column while maintaining uninterrupted access to the retail park during installation.

A total of 25 Dahua IPC-HDW3549H-AS-PVTiOC turret cameras were installed using pole mount accessories, providing general coverage across the car park and service yard, alongside scheduled IVS monitoring during night-time periods.

The system is supported by Dahua NVR5432-El and PFS4218-16GT240 managed switch, with additional PFS3006-4GT-60 switches distributed across the installation. Main control equipment is housed within a secure locked cabinet away from public access, while the end user can view NVR remotely via platforms access and the DMSS mobile application. Scheduled IVS events are monitored by an Alarm Receiving Centre, enabling AI-driven human detection and real-time notifications when required.

The completed installation has delivered substantial improvement in site-wide visibility and crime detection across Broadwood Retail Park, while also demonstrating the benefits of a fully wireless deployment in a live retail environment.

By using a zero-dig wireless transmission approach, FT Security was able to avoid disruptive civil works and maintain public access to stores and car park areas throughout the installation.

Dahua TiOC technology now provides clear night images in low-light conditions, while scheduled IVS monitoring to the ARC and real-time notifications through DMSS support a more proactive approach to security outside normal trading hours.
